Jimmy Kimmel Live, one of the funniest late-night television shows, is back for the 21st season. Adolescent collaborated with the design team at ABC and the writers of Jimmy Kimmel Live to craft a silly and endearing message to hype up viewers for the new season, creating stunning, vibrant bicoastal anamorphic boards of Jimmy Kimmel and his sidekick Guillermo. The creative was adapted to three distinct boards: the OutFront Bird, the Pendry, and VUPs around the New York City Subway. The Bird has a unique shape with five screen panels on the side and a top “neck” feature, allowing us to further develop the creative onto the new planes.
We explored A.I. possibilities to animate the still key art to living portraits- expressing the duo’s chemistry and adding quirky humor. We opted for a collage stop motion approach as it exaggerated the sharp wit of Jimmy’s comedic satire style against a grand satin curtain backdrop. Keeping with the Hollywood feel, we illuminated the border with stage lights, celebrating the glamour and old school vibe of late night comedy TV.
The Pendry was a collection of different vertical and horizontal screens on the same building, all strung together by long animated ripples of LED screens; we maximized every inch of real estate with Kimmel branding and anamorphic elements.
The Outfront VUPs, which are small screens outside of Subway stations, allow an engaging opportunity to reach viewers in a more local setting. On these screens, we worked with the Jimmy Kimmel Live writers to write unique copy to reach New York commuters funnily.
