Sesame Street has been helping kids grow smarter, stronger, and kinder all around the world since 1969, and that’s something worth celebrating. At Adolescent, we have collaborated for several years with the Sesame team on creating a collection of videos that help highlight all aspects form Sesame’s reach and influence. From marquee sizzle to mark the program’s momentous 50-year anniversary to the Brand sizzle showcasing countless trendsetting collaborations. Mixing a fresh graphic approach, unique animation style and existing Sesame Street content, we created buzz and excitement for this special milestone.
FAN SIZZLE
The focus for this video was to help get brands and marketers excited about the potential of licensing and collaborating with Sesame Street, through a trendy, high octane sizzle reel. Lucky for us - Sesame Street has no shortage of amazing source material! Source material not JUST from their own show however, for a cultural giant with such massive global brand awareness, we had a blast pouring over the countless references to Sesame in popular media.
Geared towards an audience of Gen Z + Millennials, we made this energetic reel more product-forward to attract the biggest and hottest brands -- splashy graphics complement images of favorite Sesame Street characters on a variety of clothing, lifestyle, and other brands such as Zara, H&M, and InStyle.
BRAND REEL
Tell a story
Our studio has developed the Brand Reel that would center on a more emotional, youth-focused message, to encapsulate the widespread effect the Sesame Street brand has had on kids and families across the world. In similar fashion, we interweaved show footage and other existing media content with a custom design and motion aesthetic. The whole sequence was based in a larger GFX map, our design used colorful transitions and crops of beloved Sesame characters to move between windows of information (statistics, quotes, social content, etc.). Crafting out the finer details and keeping every section unique yet connected allowed us to take the viewer on a journey through the extraordinary world of Sesame Street and beyond.
MOTION / ANIMATION
Besides the before-mentioned styles, other sizzle’s animations have included abstract, yet distinctly recognizable features of the characters + bold color choices (Elmo’s red, Cookie Monster’s blue, Big Bird’s yellow, an overall elevated black look, etc.) The branding and characters are so iconic that any opportunity to infuse them in the GFX or add a wink, we jumped all over the opportunity. Every approach creates a look both nostalgic and modernist, celebrating Sesame Street’s roots while they propel towards the future -- 50 years and counting
