Roman Empire: Reign of Blood / Main Title Design

“A kingdom of gold, to one of iron and rust” (Cassius Dio). We created the Main Title for the epic Netflix docudrama Roman Empire: Reign of Blood. The project was another successful collaboration with our friends at SDE. Season 1 is set in the time of Commodus (177 AD), where Emperors, Senators and Gladiators were worshipped like gods. For our main title concept, it was important to capture the idea of a small crack at the top leading to the chaos and downfall of a once mighty Empire. We customize the title design for season two “Julius Caesar: Master of Rome” and season three story of “Caligula: The Mad Emperor”.
