On its 10 year anniversary, TEDx is celebrating a decade of being a catalyst for sharing information to audiences far and wide.
In this spirit, Adolescent’s mission was to create a fun intro video that would not only welcome attendees at the opening of every TEDx event worldwide, but would visually engage the TEDx team, audience, and partners.
With nearly 4,000 TEDx events held across 170 countries around the world each year, we were tasked with emphasizing the scale of the TEDx program, its ability to bring people together, and the magic of sparking conversations.
The red dot has become an iconic symbol for the entire TED brand — during a presentation, when a speaker steps onto their circular mark, they are representing an idea that, when shared, has the potential to expand into a flood of creativity.
Ideas are contagious. The multiplication of the red dot in the design mirrors the way that ideas can grow and expand -- from one idea comes many.
Using original footage and stills from past TEDx events, our graphic treatment utilizes mixed media approach highlighted by 2D and 3D graphics. Shutter and punch transitions emphasize the wide range of topics covered across TEDx events, while color overlays elevate the overall design.
A world map comprised of hundreds of tiny dots encourages viewers to look closer at the details, to recognize the massive impact information and ideas can have.
